Asphalt & Pavements

Bitumen Spray Sealing Services

Spray sealing applies a layer of bitumen binder followed by aggregate to create a sealed, weather-resistant surface. It is a practical, economical option for longer access roads, rural tracks and pavement maintenance where a full asphalt surface is not required.

What our bitumen spray sealing work includes

  • Initial seals on prepared gravel bases
  • Reseals to extend the life of existing pavements
  • Access roads, driveways and farm tracks
  • Hardstands and compounds
  • Preparation, sweeping and edge treatment

Things to consider

Seal or asphalt?

Spray seals suit lower-speed, lower-stress traffic. Areas with tight turning heavy vehicles are often better in asphalt.

Weather windows

Sealing relies on suitable temperatures and dry conditions, so programs are scheduled with the season in mind.

Loose aggregate

A new seal can shed some loose stone in the first weeks; follow-up sweeping is part of good practice.

Bitumen Spray Sealing FAQs

Is spray sealing cheaper than asphalt?

Generally the upfront cost per square metre is lower, which makes it well suited to large or long areas with moderate traffic.

How long does a spray seal last?

Life depends on traffic, base condition and maintenance. We can advise on a reseal approach once we have inspected the site.
